762 Lyn
I absolutely adore this engine! SR Baldwin 'Yankee' 2-4-2T No. 762 Lyn is seen hard at work on the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway on 14th October 2017. A 2017 brand new replica of the original 'Lyn' that was built by Baldwin in the US in 1898, and shipped to the UK as a kit of parts and reassembled at Pilton Works, Barnstaple, she was noted as being the strongest of the LBR fleet, despite being a 2-4-2T wheel arrangement, and was scrapped in 1935. Together with the four original LBR coaches, the Lynton & Barnstaple now has a perfect recreation of the railway in its heyday! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KkG62m3BO2M
The Lynton & Barnstaple Railway Autumn Steam Gala on 1st October 2017 witnessed the public unveiling of brand
new SR 'Yankee' 2-4-2T 762 Lyn, a replica of the original locomotive that was built by Baldwin in 1898. Scrapped in 1935 when the line closed, the new locomotive is representative of how 762 Lyn would have appeared between 1928
and 1935, following her overhaul at Eastleigh. However, it was also joined by another new build, Gartell Light Railway
0-4-2T No. 8 Faith and residents Bagnall 0-4-2T 3023 Isaac and 0-6-0T 'Axe.' Two new builds! How many railways
can boast that! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EFsR2XyKBpM
