The Forest Railroad Theme Park, Dobwalls
Lament for the Forest Railroad! On 29th October 2006, 13 years ago, the 7.25" gauge miniature Forest Railroad tragically closed forever, and on the last few days of operation, we enjoy a cab ride on Union Pacific 4-8-4 No. 838 Queen of Nebraska around the UP Sherman Hill route. Today the majority of the collection is in Australia, with one former Dobwalls engine, 2-6-0 Mogul No. 8 is today resident on the Eastleigh Lakeside Railway. Enjoy in this film a 'Big Boy' on what was arguably one of the finest miniature railways in the World! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jX4csQLHN0w
Filmed on the very last day of public operation, 29th October 2006, we enjoy a footplate ride on miniature 7.25" gauge Union Pacific 4-8-8-4 'Big Boy' No. 4008 at the Forest Railroad Theme Park, Dobwalls in Cornwall (UK). In Part 1 of this two-part film, we enjoy a ride from Denver Station up the challenging 1 in 65 gradient through Aspen and Hermosa Tunnels before reaching the summit at Harriman. My thanks to the Southern family for allowing Classic Traction to film from 'Big Boy.' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c6fAKrdYr5o

The Forest Railroad Theme Park in Dobwalls, Cornwall, was regarded by many as one of the finest 7.25 inch gauge miniature railways in the World, but tragically the park closed forever on 29th October 2006, and in this film we take a trip around the iconic Sherman Hill route behind Union Pacific '800' 4-8-4 838 Queen of Nebraska. With John Oliver driving (regular Dobwalls driver) and with the film speeded up, we complete the journey in just 90 seconds in true 'London to Brighton' style!
