Sittingbourne & Kemsley Light Railway
Filmed in August 2013, we enjoy a cab ride over the 2'6" gauge Sittingbourne & Kemsley Light Railway courtesy of SKLR 2-4-0ST Leader from Sittingbourne Viaduct to Kemsley Down. This industrial narrow gauge railway was opened in 1904 to transport raw materials from Ridham Dock to serve the Bowater's Paper Mills in Sittingbourne. Saved for preservation in 1969, the line closed from 2008 to 2012 for extensive repairs to the iconic Sittingbourne Viaduct, and today runs for almost 2 miles to Kemsley Down along the former narrow gauge main line of this industrial railway system. My thanks to the crew of Leader and the railway for allowing me to film from the footplate! Thanks and enjoy the film! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pai0TNr25E8
