GWR 42xx & 52xx 2-8-0Ts
4247
Filmed just after she emerged ex-works in BR Black, we see one of the oldest working Great Western engines in preservation - GWR 42xx 2-8-0T 4247, which dates from 1916. A former St Blazey china clay engine (based there 1955-1957), she is seen hard at work on the Bodmin Road and Boscarne Junction branches of the Bodmin & Wenford Railway in the post-Christmas steamings in December 2011. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9xd4xIGLPTk
4277 Hercules
Great Western heavy freight action as GWR 42xx 2-8-0T 4277 Hercules is seen in action on the Paignton & Dartmouth Steam Railway on 10th July 2016. Wonderful noise as 4277 tackles the 1 in 65 gradient of Goodrington Bank bring backing memories of GWR heavy coal and mineral traffic with these monsters on them! Personally, I think the PDSR would benefit from a 72xx 2-8-2T - now that would be fun! www.youtube.com/watch?v=mewDO8QeiN4
