30541
The sole surviving SR Maunsell 'Q' Class 0-6-0 30541 is seen in action on the Bluebell Railway on 12th May 2017. The Class 'Q' 0-6-0s were the last design that Maunsell produced for the Southern Railway, and were intended as an inexpensive replacement for the many pre-Grouping goods locomotives that the Southern Railway had inherited. 30541 was built at Eastleigh in January 1939 and was initially allocated to Guildford shed, where she would have worked freights over the Reading to Redhill line. Later based at Horsham and Three Bridges, she later worked commuter services between Lewes and London Bridge, as well as goods workings over the Oxted lines, and so may well have been seen working freights over the Bluebell line. 30541 was finally based at Guildford again in March 1964, before being withdrawn in November 1964.
